I've been meaning to get to the coast with my D300 for some time but in the summer here the coast is often fogged in.
When I first bought my camera I though I would want lenses with some zoom in them! But I also read on flickr that many landscape photographers use wide angle lenses.
The waves were coming in pretty good. When they did, this whole area was pretty much covered with water.
On this one beach there was a whole section right near the water that was covered with small rocks & pebbles instead of sand and no one had walked here.
It's strange how most people just stick to the part of the beaches that are right off the parking lot when just a little hiking would get you some privacy!
On this one beach there were rock formations all over the place that looked like they came straight out of the movie - Alien!
Photographing breaking waves straigh on is definitely hit or miss.
Photographing the waves coming in with an ultra wide angle lens means you have to shoot and run unless you want to get wet.
